Enter edit page mode without the Ribbon

When you use a custom master page, or insert CSS which hides any of the edit page controls, you might wonder how to edit the page?

One way is to go into web part maintenance mode with the following parameter:

?contents=1

Example: http://sharepoint/default.aspx?contents=1

On this page you can only remove or reset web parts.

To go into fully web part edit mode use the following parameters:

?PageView=Shared&ToolPaneView=2

Example: http://sharepoint/default.aspx?PageView=Shared&ToolPaneView=2
